      <image:title>About - It started</image:title>
<image:caption>Late one summer night while staying near the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram in Taos, New Mexico, I woke up from a deep sleep repeating the words “death doula.” I had no idea what this was or what it meant, but with some help from my teacher David Harshada Wagner and the grace of Maharaji I ended up back in India at the tomb of Mother Teresa and thrown in Kalighat caring for the dying. I thought I would be completely out of my element: no medical training, no ties to the Catholic Church, no background in hospitality, no experience with death. But I had my training and practice of Bhakti Yoga. I had the practice of the Heart. I fell deeply in love as I cared for these men. To hold their hands, feed them, caress their heads. I saw men suffering like I could never imagine. And I saw men laugh with reckless joy. I watched men take their last breath. Each moment was truly a gift. My deep spiritual practice was being put to use and tested. To look into the eyes of a stranger who could have lived their life as a saint or a sinner and see them as a soul. To love them no matter what the story was. Since then I’ve trained with Bodhi Be, Deanna Cochran, and Amy Glenn Wright at the Death Doula Conference in Maui. I sat with Ram Dass and am honored to carry on the work he so loving passed down. The world of death work was new to me, but it's new to most of us and whether we like to or not—we’ll all have at least one chance at it.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Love Kirtan Sangha is a collection of seekers who come together to sing the names of the divine. We use the practice of chanting to connect with each other and share the names of God. We encourage people to share their voices and bodies whether it be through singing, clapping, banging their feet, or absorbing love. We chant in community spaces, yoga studios, temples, festivals, homes, subways, etc.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Yoga - Many years ago</image:title>
<image:caption>I found himself in my first yoga class sometime in 2008, and didn’t take my second until years later. It was not love at first sight. It was not romantic. It was uncomfortable, hard, and confusing. And it wasn’t until I was ready that I was able to dedicate myself to both the outer and inner yoga. Knowing this, I am super keen on meeting students where they are and supporting them on their unique path. My classes are a reflection of me and the students I am working with. Public classes blend some of the deeper teachings of yoga while keeping a strong intentional based foundation that allows for a curious playful embodiment practice, filling in gaps with presence, compassion, and always a little humor. I am inspired by my many teachers like Amy Petty and Noah Maze where I completed my RYT 200, Jason Crandell, and Adriana Rizzolo. I’ve done extensive inner yoga trainings with David Harshada Wagner with whom I’ve completed thousands of hours of study on applied yoga philosophy. My sadhana has lead me to India many times on pilgrimage where I was initiated into death work at the Missionaries of Charity while working with the sisters caring for the destitute and dying. I was part of the 2018 Death Doula Training with Ram Dass, Bodhi Be, Deanna Cochran, and Amy Glenn Wright. The outward expression of Bhakti Yoga has drawn me to Parvathy Baul, a true mystic and master, who perfectly weaves together what lights me up; poets, saints, singers, and dancers. Here my background as a musician has turned my practice to namasankirtan; singing the names of the divine. I use the voice, the body, and instruments as a way to call out for the Beloved. I currently lead trainings, retreats, and workshops around the US and online with a focus on Bhakti Yoga , Death/Grief work, and yoga asana. It is my deep honor to carry on and pass down what my teachers have so graciously passed down to me. My hope is to connect you to your inner love and spotlight your superpowers so you can be a servant of love.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Being Held - Being Held - Foundations</image:title>
<image:caption>Being Held Foundations is our core training and deep initiation into the doula work for death and grief. We will look at death and grief through the eyes of our own grounded spiritual practice that includes things like contemplation, journaling/writing, group discussion, reading, satsang, ritual, movement, and more. This is an educational, experimental, and experiential program that will will nourish your spiritual development and set the foundation of your journey into the mystery. Death, dying, grief. Repeat these words out loud. Have you been feeling the tug at the strings on your heart to explore end of life compassionate care? Have you been leaning into what others seem to shy away from? Are you longing to be an avenue of support during and after some of the most challenging times in peoples lives? When we live, we die. When we love, we grieve. This unique training comes from my years of deep grounded spiritual practice, being in the presence of death and dying, holding sacred space for the grieving, and ultimately having a tender heart towards service. Is this for you? I like to say, if you’ve made it this far, this training most certainly can be for you. Most people stopped reading all the way on the top when they see the words death and grief. If you’ve been called to explore this work, there is an undeniable pull that others won’t ever understand. You get it. You have seen and felt heart break, you’ve been through the fire or perhaps you’re walking thru that portal now. Do you want to be more comfortable talking about death, dying, and grief? Do you want to serve your community, friends, or family during the hardest times? Do you want to honor a beloved in your life who has died? Do you want to extend your tools/knowledge base? Really, this training should be for everybody, but we have to start somewhere. You are on the front lines of a changing world where we can embrace those who are grieving and pioneer a death positive future. I truly believe there is something in this training for everyone and I hope you join us for what I know can change your life and help serve the people around you.
